Discover ABOUT MEXICO CITY
“I was born in Mexico City, all my family from my mother's side is from here. I love it because it's filled with possibilities. It’s a very authentic experience—of course a lot of countries and cities are—but I’ve stayed in this city because it keeps me overwhelmed in a positive way. Mexico City constantly keeps me engaged. And the people in Mexico, the relationships I have here, are so important to me. There’s something nurturing about everyone trying to do their part, and enjoy what we do. My community feels like family, it’s loving and caring and inspiring”.
ON HER MULTI-LAYERED WORK
“I am a trained psychologist, I’ve been doing it for 12 years and over those years I've changed and studied and adapted my approach. The thing I use to nourish myself is my art. The wax paintings began because I love the sensation of turning on a candle in a room, it completely changes the feeling of being in a room. La Ma r is a project where everything is designed around the form of one or more seashells. It takes 3 weeks to a month to produce every piece, that's why they all have a number. I have produced 127 in four years now. I try to make every piece a unique experience.”
ON HER PERSONAL STYLE
“Style represents how we communicate and learn how to be around ourselves, working on a relationship with each other and with ourselves. The way I dress has changed over the years but I always feel most comfortable with a loose dress, a loose skirt, something a little more oversized. I'm not against showing my body, I'm changing the way I discover myself, every day. Right now it’s exploring that femininity and what that looks like for me”.
ON HER FAVORITE PLACES IN MEXICO CITY
“I love Baja California, it’s has a very unique landscape, a mix of desert with wide open fields and rugged coastline. Because of the landscape, it’s so open and big, there aren't a lot of people who live there which makes it feel very peaceful and vast. In Mexico City, I live close to Chapultepec park which I love to go to with a blanket and a book and take a half hour break”.
