Le Weekender 36 HOURS IN DEAUVILLE
Decide to leave on a whim for Deauville, just two hours from Paris. Discover our guide to get lost in the romantic atmosphere of this destination rich in literary and cinematic culture.
FRIDAY
7 PM – Check-in: Hotel Normandy. We love it for its kitschy lobby and even kitschier pianist, and of course its direct view overlooking the beach.
38 rue Jean Mermoz
Deauville
8.30 PM - Dinner at Miocque. Because it's a bit like the "Lipp" of Deauville, with photos of celebrities who've passed through on the walls.
81 rue Eugène Colas
Deauville
SATURDAY
1 PM - Lunch at the Bar du Soleil. Next to balloon vendors and colorful ice cream parlors, Deauville's most relaxed and sunny terrace.
Planches de Deauville
3 PM - Because you always buy better after seeing the sea. With its small traditional Norman house feel, the Vanessa Bruno boutique is a must-see.
12 rue Edmond Blanc
Deauville
AND THEN, TO SWITCH BANKS. ACROSS THE BRIDGE, TROUVILLE
5.30 PM – Check-in at the Hotel Flaubert. A different atmosphere reigns in this charming, recently renovated hotel. We go there for its balconies open onto the horizon, its mural that can be seen from afar and its literary prize awarded in the spring.
Rue Gustave Flaubert
Trouville
8 PM – Dinner at Les Vapeurs. A brasserie atmosphere with mussels and French fries or skate served with capers under its inimitable neon lights.
SUNDAY
9 AM - Walk along the seafront to admire the architecture of the former Roches Noires institution, redesigned by Mallet Stevens, and pay tribute to the memory of those who slept there (Marcel Proust, Marguerite Duras) or still live there (Dominique Issermann).
10 AM – Go in disguise as a local at the weekly market. Slip some fresh produce into your shopping bag to nibble on the train or when you get home to Paris.
